Since 2016, Nurturing Roots has been working to build community through farming and healing through relationships. The community farming program focuses on creating healthy eating habits and educating individuals about the ways food can impact their lives. Their focus is on sharing the truth around systematic oppression and its relationship to food and environmental justice.

On December 30th, Converge was in the building as Trae & Proof caught the Digable Planets concert at Neptune Theatre. It was a jam packed house as this terrific trio made their way to the stage. The audience was in high anticipation for what was to come. With their melodic hip hop sound, they came to the stage prepared to give us a dynamic show that took us through their timeless classics.

This year featured the debut of The Day With Trae, as TraeAnna Holiday became the sole host of Converge’s flagship show in June. Her mix of commentary, interviews, and community-focused content has created memorable moments and engaging episodes throughout all of 2022.

Trae Holiday connected with Ishmael Butler of Digable Planets. They discussed his journey though music as well as Digable Planets’ upcoming show at the Neptune Theatre.

Michael Rhodes started Mikey’s Closet in 2014 in the midst of a battle with alcohol addiction. Rhodes wanted to take control of his life, and being his own boss was one way for him to do that.

Mano, the Community Investments Strategic Advisor for the Seattle Office of Civil Rights, joined Trae Holiday on The Day With Trae to talk about The People’s Budget and the work they’re doing with community to create what they hope will be a more representative budget.

Afua Kouyate of the African Cultural Arts Center joined The Day With Trae to discuss their 2023 campaign kickoff and the work the center has been doing in the community to uplift and elevate the arts.

Entrepreneur and Community Leader Keanna Pickett joined The Day With Trae to talk about the legacy of her husband D’Vonne Pickett Jr., who was tragically murdered in October. She spoke about the ways she’s been channeling her grief into purpose, as well as how she plans to continue forward with her business, The Postman.

Tomorrow morning, Keanna Rose Pickett will join Trae Holiday in our Black Media Matters studio for a special #TheDayWithTrae. Pickett’s husband, D’vonne, was murdered in October. She will join Holiday ahead of the re-opening of The Postman, which is set to resume operations tomorrow as well. It will be an impactful interview as Pickett and Holiday reflect on D’Vonne’s contributions to the community and look ahead to how his legacy will be continued.

Small Business Advisor for the Seattle Office of Economic Development Domonique Meeks joined Trae Holiday to talk about his work with the department and the ways small business owners can get involved.

The Director of the Office of Economic Development Markham McIntyre joined Trae Holiday to discuss the things the OED is doing to help small businesses, as well as the Storefront Repair Fund, which helps business owners who’s businesses have been damaged or vandalized.

On Friday, Jay Martin Jr. sat down with Trae Holiday on The Day With Trae to talk about his recent announcement that he’ll begin hosting nationally with PBS. A journalist and host at Seattle’s KCTS 9 as well as the host of The Drive Project Podcast on the Converge Media Network, Martin will split time between Seattle and New York as he continues to work in both cities.

As a theater kid, I’ve grown up with the common knowledge that Michelle Lang-Raymond and Isiah Anderson know what they’re doing when it comes to putting shows together. I’ve attended several Teen Summer Musicals to see their collective work in action. Over the last few years, I’ve been able to connect with them in a multitude of ways. But when I tell you I was beyond blown away by Tia Naché’s one-woman show, That Talk You Do, I thoroughly mean it!
