Asheville, North Carolina

In Asheville, North Carolina we were able to visit the town that raised Broderick Adé Hogue. We met his parents and his sisters, as well as his football coach. This experience grounded us in the story of Adé’s life and built the foundation for the rest of the film.

Charlotte, North Carolina

Visiting Adé’s alma mater, UNC Charlotte, was an enlightening experience. It was there that the young man flourished into the mold-breaking graphic designer he became. His art skills were nurtured by the faculty there who gave us insight into the type of leader Adé became during those four years.

Chicago, Illinois

Chicago was the gateway to our discovery of who Adé Hogue became as a designer and an adult. Meeting his friends and co-workers was powerful, and opened a window into his creative process as well as his other pursuits, biking and running.

Seattle, Washington

In Seattle, we shot with the Our Commitment aircraft at an Alaska hangar. Capping off the experience with the aircraft and Adé’s sister Zenovia Hogue was a powerful tribute to one of his largest-scale projects. The experience opened the door into what it was like to create with Adé, and showed the impact of his work on a national scale.
