A Night of Pride: Kraken's Tribute to Deaunte Damper and Lavender Rights Project

In the bustling atmosphere of Climate Pledge Arena, amidst the cheers and excitement of Kraken Pride Night, a special moment unfolded to honor those who uplift and support the LGBTQIA community in Seattle. Among the esteemed honorees were Deaunte Damper of Converge Media and the dedicated team at Lavender Rights Project. Their commitment to advocacy and empowerment has left an indelible mark on the Seattle community, and their recognition by the Kraken and One Roof Foundation was a testament to their impactful work.

Kraken Pride Night was not only a celebration of diversity and inclusion but also a showcase of talent and creativity. The unveiling of the Pride Night specialty jersey, skillfully crafted by artist Nikita Ares, added a vibrant splash of color to the evening. DJ Orion set the stage with an electrifying set, infusing the arena with energy and enthusiasm. The Seattle Pride Hockey Association was also acknowledged for its contributions to the LGBTQIA sports community, further highlighting the spirit of unity and camaraderie.

Deaunte Damper's journey of advocacy spans seven years, during which he has fearlessly championed the rights and dignity of marginalized communities. His personal experience with HIV inspired him to dedicate his life to helping others, and through his work, he has become a beacon of hope and empowerment. Deaunte's ability to humanize the voices of the ignored and uplift the most vulnerable among us is a testament to his compassion and resilience.

Kraken Pride Night served as a poignant reminder of the power of community and the importance of standing up for what is right. Through their recognition of Deaunte Damper, Lavender Rights Project, and other organizations dedicated to LGBTQIA advocacy, the Kraken and One Roof Foundation reaffirmed their commitment to fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.

During the event Back2Besa contributors Bel Garcia and Mat Bermudez from Drip Media were there to capture the moment and talk with Nitka about her jersey design, and Deaunte about being honored during the game.
