Omari Salisbury to join Clap Back Culture with Julia Jessie

Converge Media CEO Omari Salisbury will join Clap Back Culture host Julia Jessie on the show starting Thursday

One of Converge Media’s longest-running shows is getting a new face: Converge Media CEO Omari Salisbury will join host Julia Jessie as they unpack what’s trending in the world of current events in an entertaining and relatable way.

“I'm really excited for Omari to join the show and to have a co-host again,” Jessie said. “We already have a bunch of natural chemistry so I'm super stoked about it.”

The show features a look at news, pop-culture and other current events and brings them to the community in a digestible and engaging format.

“This is the real barbershop talk. This is the talk that you're gonna have in your group chat that you would not normally see on your everyday news channel,” Jessie said. “You're gonna get a mix of everything. If you want a little bit of gossip, as well as you want to get a good update on monkeypox, you're gonna get everything in one hour.”

The show has undergone changes since its infancy, but Jessie says the core has stayed the same. Initially titled the “Post-Election Breakdown Show,” viewer feedback led to the name Clap Back Culture. While it’s “matured” over time, the goal is still to break down topics in a way which is interesting and relevant.

Salisbury is equally excited to get back on air. Since the conclusion of the Morning Update Show, he’s worked as a fill-in host across Converge programming. Now, he’s ready to be back in front of viewers on a regular basis.

“I've been working with Julia now for over a decade,” Salisbury said. “I'm really looking forward to having challenging, in-depth, and entertaining conversations on the show.”

Senior Programming Officer Alaia D’Alessandro says that the addition of Salisbury stays true to Converge’s mission.

“At Converge, we’re always looking for opportunities to enhance and bolster our programming and deliver news and information to our viewers,” D’Alessandro said. “Adding Omari to Clap Back Culture stays consistent with our goal to voice community insight and voice into local and national issues.”

You can catch Clap Back Culture below and on all Converge Media platforms every Thursday at 7 pm PST
