Reclaiming The Throne: Converge’s Clap Back Queen Julia Jessie Making Her Return To The Studio on Thursday

Converge Media’s longest running show, Clap Back Culture, makes a return to the #BlackMediaMatters studio on Thursday at 7 pm PST as host Julia Jessie is joined by Besa Gordon to break down the latest in current events. It’s a return which has been a long time coming for Jessie, who recently had a baby and became engaged. For her, the show is about more than just getting back on air.

“It’s about holding on to who I am through a period of change,” Jessie said. “Becoming a new mom and a new fiancee is amazing, but at the same time there’s a lot that i’m doing for other people. This is something I’m doing for myself and staying true to my roots.”

Jessie says that she aims to become a ‘super-mom’, and that she wants to set an example of hard work and success for her family while still providing the love and attention they need.

The last time she was on air from Seattle was a year ago this week, an occurrence which, while coincidental, gives the moment even more gravity.

“This is a part of self-care, and it’s something that I really truly love. This is my little piece of the revolution, if you will,” Jessie said. “I think it's important that I bring that collective voice to media and have a positive influence on the people that reflects their thoughts.”

She’s also excited to sit down with Gordon, who began hosting her own show Back2Besa on FOX 13 Seattle this summer. Gordon has served as an inspiration to Jessie over the past few months.

“It’s going to be fun and fresh,” Jessie said. “I think Besa is the poster child to what Converge can really bring out in the correspondents that are on the show, so I'm excited to sit with her and just vibe with her.”

Jessie and Clap Back Culture make their return to the #BlackMediaMatters Studio this Thursday at 7 pm PST. You can watch above and on all Converge Media platforms.
