A Heartfelt Goodbye: Besa Gordan Talks WOW Gallery’s Impact and Closure on Good Day Seattle
This morning, Besa Gordon joined Good Day Seattle with Abby Acone to talk about the influence and loss of Downtown Seattle’s WOW Gallery at Pacific Place. While mourning the closure of the gallery, Besa took us back to one of WOW’s Juneteenth celebrations, illustrating the comfort and healing many Black women have experienced when visiting WOW.
Co-owned by Veronica Very and Hiawatha D, the WOW Gallery was intentionally designed as a place for Black women to heal, breathe, and feel seen. As Besa described, walking into the gallery feels like a "big hug." The space features stunning artwork, and includes dedicated healing spaces and a self-guided tour that celebrates Black women. The gallery’s impact is potent, with Besa emphasizing the rarity of finding a beautiful space that truly reflects and uplifts Black women in such a positive light.
