Ashleigh McCurdy Previews the Colman Commons Grand Opening on The Pop-Up!
The vibes were high in the Black Media Matter studios this week when The Pop-Up! welcomed Colman Commons Executive Director Ashleigh McCurdy. With the city buzzing in anticipation, McCurdy took to the mic to discuss one of the most exciting community developments of the summer: the Colman Commons Grand Opening, happening tomorrow, Thursday, August 6.
Alongside host The Big O, McCurdy beamed with the pride of a creator seeing her vision come to life. She has spent over a decade specializing in interior design and event production, transforming grand ideas into thoughtfully executed, meaningful experiences. Her latest venture Colman Commons is a stunning addition to the historic Colman building, beautifully situated right where the Seattle waterfront meets Pioneer Square.
Colman Commons is proudly stepping into the spotlight as Seattle's premier waterfront cultural venue, art gallery, and creative event destination. McCurdy designed the space with a mission in mind: to celebrate creativity, cultivate deep community roots, and amplify underrepresented voices by offering a safe haven where people of color can truly let their hair down and speak their truth.
"This is my baby, and I'm proud," McCurdy said about the Commons, inviting the entire city to come out and experience the magic for themselves.
The doors open to the world this Thursday, August 6, from 8 PM to 10 PM immediately after the Pioneer Square Art Walk, featuring an incredible lineup of local artists and a lively Art Walk after-party.
