Building a Creative Empire: Curtis "Cuddy" Delgardo II Inspires on The Pop-Up

Seattle’s creative landscape is shifting, and Curtis "Cuddy" Delgardo II is right at the epicenter of the movement. The creative executive, artist manager, and producer recently sat down with host The Big O on The Pop-Up to discuss his booming management firm, the recent triumph of taking Seattle talent to a national stage in New York City, and his unwavering vision for the Pacific Northwest culture.

Reflecting on the unique perspective he brings to the local scene, Delgardo noted how his time spent living in other major cultural hubs shaped his drive to return home and build infrastructure.

“I’ve lived in Miami," Delgardo said. "I’ve been in Atlanta. I see the world and how it's working and how other people are treating their artists and supporting it and supporting the music and what the scene looks like. And I come back home and we don't have it. So, who am I not to take those experiences and bring it back and not do something about it?"

Cultivating the Vision with Cuddy Management Group

Delgardo’s primary vehicle for this cultural transformation is the Cuddy Management Group (CMG). Built from his years of hands-on experience in production, videography, and event hosting, CMG was designed to provide the foundational support that local creatives have long been lacking.

Delgardo explained the ethos of the firm, emphasizing that it is structured to scale beyond traditional limitations.

"I wanted to create a home or at least a foundational base... making sure that things are organized,” he said. “I know life can throw things around and everything like that, but at least if you have an organized foundation to start and to stand on your trajectory or platform or direction where you're going, you have a better shot at that."

CMG isn’t just about music; it’s a wide-reaching hub for multi-disciplinary talent. Delgardo is intentional about keeping the doors open to all forms of expression.

"The creative space has expanded so much and I have the understanding of that," he said. "That’s why I wanted to create this to where it doesn’t put us in a box, but because we’re so out the box and it’s of unorthodox, at least it gives you a home to contain that and allow you to flourish."

When asked what pushes him to stay on the grind in the Pacific Northwest, Delgardo’s answer came down to a sense of purpose and community.

"Honestly, it’s just being a part of something bigger than myself, understanding the mission and the challenge that’s ahead and just how much of a beautiful thing it would be to take on that challenge, overcome that challenge, and be victorious," he said.

From the Central District to the National Conversation

Delgardo's management prowess shows in his four-year journey working with Seattle recording artist Mafi D. The duo recently returned from a triumphant trip to New York City, where Mafi D recorded a highly anticipated session for the national performance platform, On The Radar.

For Delgardo, breaking local talent into these national platforms is part of a larger mission to dismantle old, dismissive narratives about Northwest hip-hop.

"We’re going to be the ones to make sure now Seattle’s in the conversation when it comes to a LA, a New York, an Atlanta, whatever it might be," he said. "We’re going to start it in Seattle for the Pacific Northwest... and we’re gonna have something to say."

He also spoke on the long-term legacy he hopes to leave behind for the generations coming up next in the city.

"Two generations from now, a new rapper from the Central District already has a pipeline," Delgardo envisioned. "That’s the goal. That’s the mission. That’s why it’s important for us to do what we’re doing."

With a major showcase 206 & Park rolling out on August 8th at First and Bell, Delgardo isn't slowing down anytime soon.

"You can either come out, support, which I would want ‘cause I want to see your face... or hear your idea to see how I can help you. But at the same time, even if you’re just watching… just stay tuned."
