Community advocate and Converge Media’s own Deaunte Damper took center stage on Friday, October 9, as the master of ceremonies for the Northwest African American Museum’s (NAAM) annual Unity Benefit at the Four Seasons Hotel Seattle. The evening honored community champions Sandra Jackson-Dumont and Michael Bennett for their dedication and continuous investment in the local community.

Damper expressed gratitude to the NAAM staff and Board of Directors for inviting him to host the celebration, giving a special shoutout to NAAM Board Chair Debbie Bird for her tireless commitment to preserving Black history, art, and culture in the Pacific Northwest.

Being back inside NAAM sparked reflection for Damper, reminding him of his first meeting with Converge Media at the museum back in 2020. What began as an inspiring dialogue about community impact blossomed into six years of partnership and the creation of Damper’s historic broadcast show We Live In Color on Converge Media.

The Unity Benefit showcased the impact of community storytelling and authentic connection, where simple conversations transform into lasting partnerships and historic movements. Converge Media remains proud to celebrate the people, partnerships, and cultural spaces that shape the story of our community.
