Earl’s Cuts and Styles: A Central District Cornerstone and Community Legend

For over three decades, community legend Earl Lancaster of Earl’s Cuts and Styles has been a perpetual presence in the Central District, existing as a sanctuary for the culture and a cornerstone of the community. Converge Media has been spending the past few months with Earl for an upcoming Community Legends documentary, photography, and podcast series. This project aims to capture the deep history and countless stories that Earl has shared over the years, alongside the voices of those who have comparably cemented their legacies as community legends in the city.

Listening to Earl share his journey and the stories of the Central District reminds us why we do this work. It’s about more than just media, but about being back in the community and uplifting our people, one story at a time.

ProofNthePlay took the first set of photos when Earl still had his locs, and Converge co-founder Erik Kalligraphy took the second set after Earl cut his hair.
