On Friday afternoon the Round Up team met down at Memorial stadium for the Friday night lights game of week. The highly anticipated match up between the undefeated Garfield Bulldogs and the undefeated Eastside Catholic Crusaders got under way at 7:45 pm. The first half of the game was a true battle with the two schools showcasing just how good their defenses can be. Stand out players on Garfield’s defense include # 9 Micheal Montgomery and #26 Mister Beaver and #16 Henry Smidt. Quarterback EJ Caminong found Wide Receiver #1 Jamaica Myres on a drive that led to Garfield putting up 7 points.

On the Eastside Catholic side of the ball defensive lineman #55 LJ Imo and #77 AJ Tanupo wreaked havoc in the trenches, causing multiple momentum altering blocked punts, forced fumbles and sacks along with #12 David Lene having an interception. At the half the score of the game was 10-10 and both teams still had high hopes to come out with the W.

Eastside Catholic’s Quarterback #10 Brady McKelheer connected with Wide Receiver #6 Branden Ganashamoorthy and #3 Jayden Reyes in the second half that put the Bulldogs back on a leash. The games final score was 30-10 Eastside Catholic. Eastside continues on with their season as the king of the hill for 3A Metro football. The Garfield Bulldogs will have a chance to redeem themselves as they will have to take on The Rainier Beach Vikings, other wise known as “The Beach Boys”, in another highly anticipated game for the city that is more commonly known as the hood classic. Rainier Beach dominated The Bulldogs last year so this game on Friday should be a sight to see.
