From Fresh Chicken to Fresh Fits: Lewis Rudd on Ezell’s New Era

Did somebody say Ezell’s Chicken is throwing back prices to $3.99 and releasing fresh new merch? Lewis Rudd, CEO of the iconic chicken shop, stopped by the Almost The Weekend set yesterday to share the news with Curtis and Besa about his promo celebrating their new partnership with Redbird Farms, which includes any two bone-in pieces and a roll for just $3.99 until September 30th. Ezell’s isn't stopping at the bird–they also have their new Heritage Collection merch line, finally letting fans wear their long-lasting love for Ezell’s with pride. By the way, you know the Ezell’s logo is literally on the wall at the Black Media Matters Studio, so it was definitely a homecoming for Lewis.

Sporting his original 1984 Ezell’s gear at home in the Black Media Matters Studio, Lewis took Besa and Cuddy back to the roots of the establishment, from the Heritage sweatsuits, original bucket hats, and “We Take Our Chicken Seriously” t-shirts. The Heritage Collection is directly inspired by the brand’s history in the Pacific Northwest, and is a reminder of Ezell’s incredible legacy and growth over four decades of business. In partnership with the Rudd Rugg Initiative, Ezell’s contributes to creating opportunities for Black entrepreneurs and aims to close the wealth gap by fostering more Black-owned businesses, Lewis explained.

Talking all things chicken, Lewis emphasized the signature cut and quality of Ezell’s chicken thanks to their new partnership with Redbird Farms that ensures every bite is bigger, juicier, and delicious. “The most important thing is having that freshness, that juicy chicken,” he said, praising Redbird’s care and quality in the product. “There’s no substitute for freshness.”

To celebrate the launch of the Heritage Cut and this new partnership, Ezell’s is rolling out throwback pricing. From September 23-30th, enjoy any two bone-in pieces and a fresh-baked roll for just $3.99 at at Ezell's Famous Chicken restaurants, online, or through DoorDash.

Tune in Thursday night at 9pm on Converge Media streaming platforms for the full interview hosted by Besa Gordon (@besagordon) and Curtis Delgardo II !
