Washington State House of Representatives candidate Jaelynn Scott held a semi-private event at Métier Brewery in Seattle’s Central District, attended by family, friends, and local supporters on Sunday, March 15. That same night, community leader Koach Giggz hosted Scott’s official afterparty at Black & Tan Hall.

Scott is seeking to represent Legislative District 37 (Position 2). Known for her work as the Executive Director of the Lavender Rights Project, her professional background has focused on legal and social advocacy for gender-diverse communities.

Attendees at the kickoff event shared their motivations for supporting Scott’s candidacy, often highlighting her leadership style and history of community involvement.

Jackie Vaughn, Executive Director of Surge Reproductive Justice, spoke to Scott’s history of intersectional organizing. Vaughn noted their past work together addressing reproductive rights and gender-affirming care, stating that Scott focuses on "building power for Black women and Black trans and gender-expansive people.”

The Central District Forum Executive Director Randy Ford said that Scott’s vision is "driven by the community she serves.”

Other attendees included “We Live In Color” host Deaunte Damper, candidate for the 43rd Legislative District Hannah Sabio-Howell, founder of Dancing In The Rain Media Darryl Glover, and more.

As the 2026 election cycle begins, Scott joins a field of candidates vying to represent Southeast Seattle and Renton. Learn more about her campaign here
