Jazz Highlights Black-Owned Lender Denkyem Co-Op on Good Day Seattle
Yesterday morning, Jazz from Seattle returned to Good Day Seattle on FOX13 for a second week as she fills in for Besa Gordon, who is currently on leave. During the interview with host Erin Mayovsky, Jazz highlighted Denkyem Co-Op, a Black-led community development financial institution.
Denkyem Co-Op focuses on supporting Black businesses through revenue-based loans. It offers a flexible financial approach that allows entrepreneurs to concentrate on their business strategy and community impact. The organization has been around since 2018 and aims to address funding disparities faced by Black businesses.
During the interview, Jazz played a clip featuring Denkyem Co-Op CEO Dion Cook discussing Denkyem Co-Op’s “Third Thursday” networking events, which provide entrepreneurs with networking opportunities. Cook emphasized the need for funding to support business growth, drawing comparisons to larger corporations. He highlighted Denkyem Co-Op's revenue-based loans, where repayment is based on business health, rewarding contributions to the community.
Jazz explained that Denkyem Co-Op's third Thursday events allow entrepreneurs to network and showcase their businesses, products, and services.
Jazz closed the interview by sharing the exciting news that Denkyem Co-Op partnered with Back2Besa on the #SupportBlackBusiness campaign. This means that the Black business uplifts and spotlights will continue through at least June of this year.
