KD Hall, a six-time Emmy-nominated TV show host, crisis manager, and non-profit leader of the KD Hall foundation, has announced the launch of her new book “Sacred Pause: A Conversation with KD Hall.” “Sacred Pause” is Hall’s first book as an author that explores and chronicles her journey with grief and a midlife crisis, inviting readers into her 30-day sabbatical of reflection, rest, and healing following her mother’s passing.
“This book was born as my statement of freedom," Hall said. "I thought I was free but now, I am fully free. I’m free from myself. I’m free from self-doubt. I’m free from perfectionism. I’m free from your expectations of me. And my goal is to help you become free too through your own sacred pause.”
The book launch will be celebrated with a one-night-only sensory reading experience on Friday, Dec. 5 at 7:00 p.m. at Converge Media Studios. The event, open to 100 guests ages 21 and over, will immerse guests into Hall’s story through live chapter readings and candid discussions with industry professionals and community leaders about grief and self-discovery.

The book is designed as a 30-day workbook, featuring personal anecdotes from childhood to moments surrounding her mother’s death. Each chapter includes reflective questions and a carefully selected song meant to enhance readers' experiences and to deepen their connections with Hall. Songs range from Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On” to Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary.”
To Hall, “Sacred Pause” is not only a toolkit for those navigating loss or change, but an intimate and confrontational journey toward finding her own inner peace.
“As a crisis manager, you expect to know all the tools,” she said. “But when it comes down to your own midlife crisis, it's just a different situation.”

After the loss of her mother on Dec. 30, 2024, Hall continued working until the physical and mental toll forced her to take a break. She decided to take a 30-turned-90-day sabbatical during which she finally confronted the emotional turmoil and resentment she carried for not being by her mother’s side during her final moments.
“I missed a lot of healing that I needed to do,” she said. “I lost my mom for crying out loud.”
Hall says the writing process allowed herself to grow and appreciate how far she’s come.
“I was always embarrassed to cry before my mom died,” she shared. “There was no crying moment, and a lot of times it seemed like I couldn't feel. After the book was done, I felt myself feeling again. I can feel the excitement of life again.”

Hall announced that the “Sacred Pause” road tour will begin with the Dec. book launch until Mar. 31, 2026 where she plans to visit military bases, schools, and businesses focusing on reaching those who may need the book’s message. She also announced upcoming military and kids editions and is currently working on braille and audiobook versions for greater accessibility.
She said proceeds from the first 500 books sold through kdhallfoundation.org will be donated to the KD Hall foundation for its College Ambassador Program which supports young women of color entering the film, communications, and marketing fields, fulfilling her mission to empower youth.
“Sacred Pause” is more than a resource but a love letter to Hall’s mother, her loved ones, and most importantly, herself.
“I lost my mom, and that was devastating,” Hall said. “But I've gained so much too. I gained a better grip on myself and self control. I'm really excited about connecting with different groups of people.”
“Sacred Pause” is available now for purchase in paperback or Kindle formats through Amazon and readers are invited to RSVP for the book launch online.
