Legendary Vibes: Elisha Michelle Talks Events, Podcasting, and Being Authentically Herself
Creator and influencer Elisha Michelle sat down with host Besa Gordon last week for an episode of Almost the Weekend! to share insights into her multifaceted life and career as an event planner, influencer, student, mom, and creative mastermind behind the event series Legendary AF.
Michelle's events, which she started throwing 20 years ago initially as birthday parties for her friends, have a reputation for setting the vibe right. Michelle attributes the high quality of the atmosphere she curated to the community's respect for her and their willingness to put their differences aside in the name of having a good time.
Alongside events, Michelle hosts the Legendary Dope Show podcast, which she started in 2020 because she needed something to do during lockdown. The show aims to highlight local creatives and personalities, giving them a significant platform to share themselves with the public and receive the recognition they deserve. Legendary Dope Show covers a wide range of topics from colorism and dating to what it's like to co-parent.
When asked what "legendary" means to her, Michelle defined it as "being authentically yourself" and "going for the gold."" As an event creator, she strives to make her gatherings both fun and productive, incorporating elements like networking and interview stations to help creatives feel comfortable in front of the camera and, in turn, add skills to their marketing tool belt.
Michelle is currently focused on her partnership with Zawadi Vodka, a Black-owned vodka company, finishing her marketing degree at the University of Washington, and planning the next Legendary AF event for February 2026. Her advice to aspiring influencers is to stay consistent with content production and be genuine, a tip she tells herself regularly.
