Seattle Mariners 2024 food preview: Mariners continue to add great food options to the ballpark

By Charles Hamaker

Seattle, WA – With how long the baseball season is and with normally the length of the games taking more time than most other professional sports, even with the pitch clock introduced, fans at the ballpark look for ways to entertain themselves and for a good snack while they watch their favorite team. Fans of the Seattle Mariners have had some solid options through the years for what food they’ll have at the ballpark, and that’s no different this year as we checked out the food preview for T-Mobile Park ahead of the 2024 MLB season kicking off. Take a look into what food and beverage options are new for the upcoming season to see what you might want to try when you come to watch our Seattle Mariners and check out what foods were our favorites at this year's preview!

Besa Gordon’s top picks

If I had to pick between all the amazing food that we had today, and pick what my favorites were, it would have to be the ribs, the chicken, wings, and the Moto crab pizza. But, if you get the crab pizza, you gotta add a little bit of fresh lemon juice to it. Personally I just feel like that took it to a whole new level.

The food this year, is absolutely amazing, and I have to say the food options get better and better each season.

There’s even an all shrimp taquito that Chef Javier put together. I think , I speak for a lot of people, when I say, there’s definitely going to be something for everyone this year at the ballpark.

Charles Hamaker’s top picks

As a picky eater, it can be tough at events like food previews considering there’s only so much that I’ll actually want to eat. Considering the wide variety of food options that the ballpark has around, that’s not the case here and there were definitely a few favorites that I tasted that will be in my rotation once we get to Opening Day and throughout the regular season for our Mariners. Finding good wings is tough anywhere, but especially at professional sporting events it seems, and the solution that the Mariners now have would be the new “Salt and Pepper Wings.” While I tend to prefer some heat with my wings, the Salt and Pepper Wings are a great option if you’re looking to satisfy that chicken hunger and don’t want to make the sort of mess you’d normal make with wings that have sauce on them.

The “House Smoked Pork Ribs” were another strong option, as good ribs aren’t something you’d traditionally find at a sports venue but T-Mobile Park has gone and surprised us once again. While they are a bit messy, if you’re looking for a strong option and or don’t care about the mess, I would definitely check them out. When it comes to a side option or if you just want something to snack on, the Tater Tots from Marination with their special blend of spices is a MUST. Much like good wings, good fries that have a little extra can be tough to find around sports venues in addition to just bland fries, and now the ballpark here has two options to combat that with their beloved garlic fries and these spiced tots. All three of these options get the Charl thumbs up of approval.

Tamari Bar

To kick us off, a new face will be added to the ballpark this year! Founded in Seattle in 2014, Tamari Bar disseminates Japanese culture, food and people through its authentic dining experience, which fans can enjoy in section 133. Some of their featured dishes include Area 206 Curry Rice (Area 206 curry sauce, rice, dried seaweed Japanese pickles, and house made “Ra-Yu” chili oil), Katsu Curry Rice (Area 206 curry sauce, fried pork cutlet, vegetable katsu sauce, sesame seeds), Curry Donuts Dip (Area 206 curry sauce, house made “Ra-Yu” chili oil, fried donut sticks and dried seaweed) and Fresh Ginger Ale (ginger, “Yuzu” Japanese citrus, honey, cinnamon, peppercorn and soda water).

The Walk-Off Market

A third Walk-Off Market in section 105 will be joining the existing Walk-Off Market locations in section 126 and 141, plus the Walk-Off Brew locations in sections 186 and 341, in an effort to continue to get quicker food and beverage options out to fans so that they can spend less time in lines and or on the concourse and more time in their seat hopefully watching an exciting product out on the diamond. If you’re hungry and just want to grab a bite, the Walk-Off market tends to be the place to be for you and with some new options, that continues to ring true. Some of the new highlights this year include:

  • The Double MitchWich (sect. 105, 126, 141): If you have enjoyed previous food options based on Mariners players names such as the “Cal-zone,” then you’re in for another treat this year! Two halves of a whole, this sandwich brings together different inspirations from your favorite Mariners named Mitch, using flavors influenced by their hometowns as the foundation for each half. The Mitch Garver side features marinated pulled pork, sliced black forest ham, Swiss cheese, dijonnaise, and sliced pickles on Cuban bread, while the Mitch Haniger side includes grilled chicken breast, marinated tomatoes, crispy bacon, a fried avocado wedge, and Havarti cheese served on a flatbread. Sodexo Live! Executive Chef Javier Rosa worked in collaboration with both players to test a few iterations of each half until they found a winning combo. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Seattle Children’s Hospital.

  • Meatball Sub (sect. 105, 126, 141): Hearty meatballs, marinara sauce, shredded mozzarella on fresh tavern bread.

  • Shrimp Cocktail (sect. 105, 126, 141): Six pieces of fresh Pacific Northwest shrimp with cocktail sauce. Never though I’d see a quality option such as a Shrimp Cocktail added to the Walk-Off Market, yet here we are!

  • At Walk-Off Brews stands around the ballpark, fans aged 21+ can responsibly order a wide variety of alcoholic beverages, including value beer options, new craft options from Sierra Nevada and pFriem Brewing, as well as grab-and-go snacks and non-alcoholic drinks.

Value Menu

Having just discussed the Walk-Off markets and some of the cheaper options that they provide for fans, we’ll look straight into the value menu and beers that you’ll be able to get your hands on this upcoming season. With a continued focus on providing something great and accessible for every fan, the ever-popular Value Menu returns throughout the ballpark in 2024 with new items like the 10-inch churro, Sweet Street’s Chewy Marshmallow Bar and their Sandy’s Amazing Chocolate Chunk Cookie, plus Van Holten’s Big Papa Jumbo Pickle. The menu will also continue to offer popular options from last year such as popcorn, Hempler’s hotdogs, nachos, ice cream sandwiches, Coca-Cola fountain soft drinks, and more.

Value Beers

When it comes to the value beers, notably the prices for brews at professional sporting events have become unbearable for many, and that’s where the value beers step in. The Value Beers program continues with various local and national brands offered. 10 beers varieties, including products from Molson Coors, will be available at various locations around the ballpark priced at $4.50 and $5.50, and $6.50 for premium cans. Plus, new Browne Family Vineyards wines from Columbia Valley, Washington join the list of beverage offerings, including their Merlot, Red Blend, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir.

Salt & Straw

A favorite around the Seattle area, Salt and Straw will bring two new flavors of their handmade ice cream featuring local ingredients to the ballpark, including T-Mobile Park special Wild-Forged Berry Slab Pie (wild berries forged from the slopes of Mt. Baker in Washington, simmered into an ooey-gooey filling and slathered across crispy bits of double-based pie crust in a salted vanilla ice cream), and vegan Strawberry Coconut Water Sherbet.

Marination

Another local favorite will be adding some great options to their already underrated spot at the ballpark. Located in the T-Mobile ‘Pen, Marination is back with new dishes like Tofu Tots (crispy fried tofu, adobo seasoning, cilantro, scallions, and jalapeno ranch dip), Tater Tots (tater tots sprinkled with a special blend of seasonings), Frosé Slushies – a T-Mobile Park first – and a non-alcoholic pineapple coconut slushie option.

MOTO Pizza

After a wildly successful first year bringing its self-described “Odd Pizza” to T-Mobile Park, Seattle-based MOTO Pizza is adding its popular Crab Pizza (fresh Dungeness crab, splash of warm butter, dill, thyme, and parmesan finished with a “liquid sunshine” mix of fresh squeezed lemon and herbs on a century-old sourdough starter) to the menu this year. Fans who visited the ballpark during last year’s special events, such as the Winter Classic that saw our Seattle Kraken shutout the Las Vegas Golden Knights, may have had a chance to enjoy the unique dish, but now guests can indulge all season long in section 312. Returning flavors include Mr. Pig, Root Pizza, Kissd and Pepperoni.

Holy Smoke BBQ

Chef Javier and team are bringing reinvigorated BBQ dishes smoked right inside the ballpark to fans all season long, adding to the great food selection you’ll have during those summer days at T-Mobile Park. New highlights include the BBQ Pork Belly Sliders (two house smoked pork bell sliders tossed in signature BBQ sauce and topped with a jalapeno slaw and butter dill pickles) and House Smoked Pork Ribs (on-site smoked pork ribs served with signature BBQ sauce) – both are also available at the Walk-Off Market in section 105. Plus, the Holy Moly Loaded Potato will return to section 313.

Edgar’s Cantina

Hailing from Puerto Rico, Sodexo Live! Executive Chef Javier ups the Northwest Latin flare in new dishes at Edgar’s Cantina, including Birria Torta (slow cooked birria, spicy pico de gallo, mama mia peppers, diced jalapeno, cilantro crema, asadero cheese and torta bread), Shrimp Quesadilla (two folded quesadillas stuffed with Pacific Northwest Shrimp, chihuahua cheeses, roasted peppers and onions, cilantro and a side of chipotle crema), Tacos del Barrio (three white corn tortilla tacos with choice of chicken tinga, barbacoa pulled pork or birria topped with fresh diced onions, cilantro, and radishes), and Mini Chimichangas (poblano shredded chicken, asadero cheese, flour tortilla and a side of cilantro cream).

Ballard Pizza

Celebrated local Chef Ethan Stowell’s Ballard Pizza returns to the T-Mobile ‘Pen, Terrace Club (section 241) and adds a new location in Section 132. New this season includes the King Pizza (mini rigatoni pasta, marjoram, chili flakes, tomato, mozzarella, pecorino and parmesan) and the return of How to Wolf a Cookie – a play on words from one of his first restaurants, How to Cook a Wolf – featuring Valrhona chocolate, dried cherries, pistachios, and maldon sea salt.

An addition to the “Chick Chick Boom” stand

If you’re looking for even more chicken options at the ballpark, just like how I always am, than this new addition to a stand that was already at the ballpark starting last season is for you! This playful all emoji food stand in section 106 is back with a new Chick Chick Boom sandwich (crispy chicken cutlet served with dill pickles and Boom Boom sauce on a fresh brioche bun).

Hempler’s Sausage

Two hearty new dishes can be found at Hempler’s Sausage carts, including the Ultimate Seattle Dog (footlong frank loaded with cream cheese, caramelized onions, bacon and jalapenos on a freshly baked roll) – a reimagined take on the classic – at sections 132, 142 and 329, and the Smokin’ Hot Cheddar Bratwurst (smokin’ hot bratwurst with jalapeno and a kick of cayenne) at sections 132, 136 and 142.

For the ice cream lovers:

If you’re looking to cool off on some of these hot Seattle summer days, ice cream is an easy choice! Classic ice cream options can be found this season in sections 106, 118, 185, 214, 329 and 340, including vanilla, chocolate, and swirl soft serve, as well as milkshakes available in chocolate swirl, strawberry, peach twist, classic cherry, blue raspberry, and caramel.

Additional Beverage options and notes

  • Coca-Cola products return as the “Official Fan Refreshment” of the Seattle Mariners with a re-imagined Coca Cola Fan Deck, which will offer a brand-new Coca Cola Spiced beverage.

  • Corona will continue this season as the ‘Official Cerveza’ of the Seattle Mariners, carrying Corona, Corona Seltzers, Modelo, refreshed Micheladas, and all new Agua Frescas at T-Mobile Park’s very own Corona Beach Bar.

  • The entire roster of best-in-class T-Mobile Park beers is available via the Beer Finder, available via the MLB Ballpark app, which can be downloaded from any mobile app store.
