Opening Night Magic: Besa Gordon Talks Falling in Love with Firebird at Pacific Northwest Ballet
By Besa Gordon - Last night was such a vibe. Huge thank you to Pacific Northwest Ballet for having the Converge Fam come out for opening night of Firebird. Seriously, what a beautiful show.
Seeing so many familiar faces hit that stage made it even more special. Shout out to Amanda Morgan, Destiny Wimpye, and my guy Jonathan Batista. Y’all killed it and poured so much emotion on to the stage, and into your performance, so proud to be able to say I know you all.
The whole production was stunning, but that third act had my heart. The love story, the emotion, the battle, the way the Firebird helped those two lovers overcome evil and finally get their happy ending… it was just so good. And the stage props? Absolutely beautiful. Every detail felt magical.
Also, can we please talk about this photo moment? Me and my girl Jazmin Elon (along with the rest of the Converge fam) got to shoot with Susan Fried, and babyyy, she understood the assignment. These photos made me feel like me again. I looked at them and said, “Oh, she’s back!” Shout out to Susan for really capturing my essence.
If you haven’t seen Firebird yet, you still have time to pull up before March 22. Go see it for yourself and you’ll understand exactly why we fell in love with it.
