PHOTOS: Converge and the Mariners Announce the Steelheads’ Return at FanFest 2026

Seattle Mariners FanFest was a historic kickoff to the baseball season, generating excitement for what the team has in store for 2026. The weekend's highlight was a monumental announcement led by Converge Media: the Steelheads are officially back.

Every Sunday home game, the Mariners will wear the iconic Seattle Steelheads uniform, honoring the spirit and legacy of the Negro Leagues. The news fueled a passionate atmosphere at T-Mobile Park, which annually transforms into a high-energy pep rally where the team expresses its confidence for the new season and brings together dedicated fans.

Mariners first baseman Josh Naylor was a headline attraction at FanFest, sporting the team’s new Steelheads uniform for the announcement. Alongside many of his teammates, including Cal Raleigh and Julio Rodríguez, Naylor participated in FanFest’s “Dugout Dialogues,” giving fans the chance to take photos and receive autographs from players.

At FanFest, the Converge team was met with an outpouring of support from family, friends, and the dedicated media professionals who made the moment possible, demonstrating the collaborative spirit and love of the Mariners’ baseball community.

For Converge, announcing the return of the Steelheads jersey was an enormous honor and accomplishment. Far beyond the diamond, it meant shining a bright light on the history of Black baseball in Seattle that has represented defiance and resilience since 1946.

By aligning with the Mariners to launch the Steelheads Community Fund, a $500,000 commitment to local Black baseball and softball organizations, Converge ensured the announcement was a historic milestone that connected the spirit of past legends with the dreams of future youth, carrying forward a legacy of excellence for a new generation.

Sundays are for the Steelheads.
