Planting Seeds for Change: Logic Amen Talks AJ McQueen, Youth Empowerment & The Griot Party Experience on Almost The Weekend
On the latest episode of Almost The Weekend, Curtis Delgado II and Besa Gordon caught up with community educator, artist, and visionary Logic Amen, who’s bringing both energy and impact with The Griot Party Experience—and this time, he’s doing it big with AJ McQueen.
Happening August 3 at the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center, the event is more than just a show—it’s an extension of Logic’s Seeds to the Garden Project, a summer youth program focused on creative expression, mental health, and teaching young people how to turn their intellectual property into real income.
So why AJ McQueen? Logic broke it down beautifully. “We want the seeds to be in close proximity with someone who’s really doing it… who’s independent, built a platform, and is showing the results of putting in the work.” From the music to the message, AJ brings a sense of balance and possibility—especially for Black and Brown youth who don’t always get to see alternative blueprints for success.
One standout moment was Logic’s explanation of his “reverse tuition” model—paying youth to show up and learn about mental health, grief support, and conflict mediation. “If we don’t water the seeds, we can’t expect roses. We’ll keep raising weeds.” The metaphor might be poetic, but the work is real—and the results speak volumes.
Throughout the conversation, Curtis and Besa gave Logic his flowers for creating a space where young people can be seen, heard, and empowered. From music videos and workshops to opportunities that heal and uplift—this isn’t just programming. It’s purpose in motion.
