PREVIEW: From Bras for Girls to Dignity for Divas: Community, Culture, and Impact in Seattle on Back2Besa

This week on Back2Besa, we’re tapping into community, culture, and the power of showing up for one another—highlighting the people and spaces making a real impact across the Seattle area.

We kick things off with Bras for Girls, an organization helping remove barriers for young girls in sports by providing access to properly fitting sports bras and education around body confidence. Through community events and outreach, they’re creating space for girls to feel supported, empowered, and encouraged to keep doing what they love.

From there, we head to downtown Seattle for a hands-on experience at Noir Lux Candle Bar with owner Colina Bruce. Joined by Besa’s Converge Media family, this visit turns into more than just candle-making—it’s a moment of connection, creativity, and a little friendly competition as everyone puts their own spin on a custom scent.

Next, we celebrate five years of Communion in Seattle’s Central District, a space that has become a true cultural cornerstone in the community. What started as a vision has grown into something much bigger, rooted in intention, legacy, and a continued commitment to serving the people who walk through its doors.

We also head to the rodeo with a special look at Facing the Reign, a film executive produced by Besa that follows the journey of Jessa Thomas, Washington State’s first Black Rodeo Queen. This story is all about breaking barriers, representation, and showing the next generation what’s possible.

Then, we make a stop at Hood Famous Bakery and Bar in the Chinatown–International District, a local favorite known for its Filipino-inspired pastries, desserts, and welcoming atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where community and culture come together over something sweet.

We also take a deeper look at the impactful work happening at Dignity for Divas, where women are supported as they transition out of homelessness and into stability. Through the Diva Academy and their new headquarters, the organization is providing life-skills training, workforce development, and a pathway forward rooted in real support and lived experience.

To close things out, we take a moment to reset with our Affirmation of the Week—reminding you to trust your journey and embrace every step along the way.

From confidence and creativity to culture, growth, and opportunity, this episode is all about what happens when community shows up with intention.
