PREVIEW This Week’s Episode of Back2Besa: The Waterfront Park in All Its Summer Glory
Back2Besa is back, and this week, it’s all about Seattle’s new Waterfront Park! This weekend, Besa is taking a look back at all the monumental moments, memories, and all around good vibes that defined Summer 2025 thanks to the Waterfront, from incredible art showcases like Indigiqueer, to inspirational live music and community building at Africatown Soul on the Water, to the official Grand Opening Celebration just last month.
Cultivating Community and Uplifting Voices at the Waterfront
The Waterfront hosted some of the most awe-inspiring events this summer that gave underrepresented voices a platform to shine. The Indigiqueer Festival on Pier 62 wrapped up Pride Month mixing activism with beautiful art installations, while the Seattle Disability Arts Festival showcased the Emerald City’s talented musicians with disabilities, all while bringing together all sides of the city in a summer that will surely go down in the books.
Creating Space for Thriving Local Businesses
Through its expansion, the Waterfront Park has allowed concrete economic growth by creating space for local businesses to thrive. Two of Besa’s favorites are Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream just south of the ferry terminal, and Boon Boona Coffee, opening this winter. At a time when small businesses are struggling more than ever to stay afloat in Seattle, the Waterfront makes room for some true Seattle gems.
Overlook Walk Bridging the Emerald City
Besa’s taking a look back at when Deaunte Damper swung by the Overlook Walk Grand Opening, a moment that literally connected Downtown Seattle with the new Waterfront Park. This long-awaited bridge makes it easy to walk from Pike Place Market and surrounding areas straight to the Piers while enjoying the glorious Elliott Bay views with ease.
The Waterfront Park Grand Opening Celebration
To cap off the episode, Besa’s reflecting on the Waterfront Park Grand Opening Celebration last month, which was more than just a ribbon cutting, but a celebration of culture, community, and genuine connection. With performances from Massive Monkees and Double Dutch Dives, this momentous weekend signified a turning point in the Emerald City that brought together the very best of what Seattle has to offer its diverse community.
