Seattle ends home stand with a dominant win against Indiana

By Bel Garcia

Seattle, WA - Another great defensive performance by the Seattle Storm secured them a 73-57 win against a young Indiana Fever team. Behind Breanna Stewart and Sue Bird’s lead early in the game, the Storm maintained their rhythm and cruised for four quarters in this one. Stewart was aggressive to start the game pulling up for a three at the top of the arc for her first points of the game. She would not stop from there as she continued to look for her open shots and was aggressive on the defensive end as well. Stewie ended the night with 20 points, 3 assists, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals. Half of her points coming from the free throw line, which Coach Quinn admitted was part of the game plan because of the Fever being known to rack up fouls.

Scary Hours with Spooky G

Gabby Williams is an absolute threat when it comes to her defensive hustle, but when she gets her offense going, she makes an even bigger difference on the game. Her defensive was there all night as she held Kelsey Mitchell, a player who averages 18.5 points, to only 3 points. However, there was a turning point in the game where Gabby was the next woman up and was doing a bit of everything for the Storm. Early in the 3 rd quarter, Williams was driving to the basket for a layup and came down hard after being fouled by Lexie Hull. Williams described herself as a patient person but admitted that the foul made her angry. Lucky for the Storm, Gabby played with that anger, and it fueled her to 8 points in the quarter, all coming from inside the paint. When asked about the play she responded with, “she knew she wasn’t going to get the ball, so she had to foul me.” This is the level of confidence that the Storm need from Spooky G as they continue their season.

Tina Charles moves to #4 on scoring list

Tonight, was only Tina Charles’ second time on the floor in a Storm uniform, but she continues to improve in her knowledge of Seattle’s game play. She scored 9 points this time around, one of her made baskets was a three in the 2 nd quarter that moved her up on the All-Time scoring list. Charles now sits at #4, with a total of 6,902 points. It was a great defensive team win for the Storm as they all looked like they understood their positioning on the floor and locked down the Indiana Fever’s players. The Storm walked away from this one only allowing the Fever to score 57 points in all 40 minutes of game play, the fewest allowed since they played Dallas in August of 2019. They’re back on the road for the next three and will start the trip in Atlanta against the Dream.
