Seattle Mayor's Office Hosts Black Business Leaders Roundtable

The Office of the Mayor hosted a Black Business Leaders Roundtable on Tuesday at City Hall, creating space for Black business owners and entrepreneurs across Seattle to address the city. Mayor Katie Wilson, Deputy Mayor Brian Surratt, and newly appointed Special Advisor on LGBTQ+ Affairs Dominique Stephens addressed the audience.

Acting Director for the Office of Economic Development Beto Yarce and Seattle City Councilmember Rob Saka were in attendance.

One representative from each businesses had an opportunity to speak, including Ezell’s Chicken owner Lewis Rudd, ONYX + PETAL owner Rebekah Lewis, Umami Kushi owner Harold Fields, WeRise Wines owner Jamila Conley, Metier Brewing owner Rodney Hines, The Re-Sole 206 owner Takiyah Ward, Legacy Hair & Beauty Supply owner Patt Butler Lathan, Communion owners Kristi Brown and Damon Bomar, and many more.

According to Mayor Wilson, the initial roundtable was the first of many commitments to sustained engagement and collaborative action at the center of supporting Black-owned businesses.
