Seattle Office of Arts & Culture Opens Applications for 2027 King Street Station Exhibitions

The Seattle Office of Arts & Culture (OAC) has officially begun accepting applications for 2027 exhibitions at its premiere cultural space and gallery, ARTS at King Street Station.

Located on the top floor of the historic train depot that opened in 1906, the dynamic 7,500-square-foot gallery is dedicated to expanding opportunities for underrepresented and marginalized artists, specifically centering people of color to generate and present their work. Selected exhibitions and programs can receive awards of up to $20,000.

According to a recent press release from the City of Seattle Office of Arts & Culture, James Coley, the Program Lead for King Street Station, described the gallery as "a space for art that helps us see ourselves, troubles us or instills pride in who we’ve been, or that takes us and sets us down somewhere entirely unexpected." Coley emphasized that the venue seeks "artists who want to show the power of art to community and in community."

For many creators, exhibiting in the space has proven to be a defining moment in their careers. In the press release, Puerto Rican artist Jo Cosme reflected on the impact of her experience, noting that the location and gallery gave her work meaningful visibility and access, leading directly to new professional opportunities and community conversations.

How To Apply

Artists, curators, and community groups are encouraged to submit their applications. To submit a proposal, applicants can apply for the 2027 ARTS at King Street Station exhibition call before the deadline on Sept. 29 at 5 PM Pacific.

To ensure the call is accessible to Seattle’s diverse populations, guidelines are available in multiple languages including Amharic, Chinese (Traditional), Hindi, Korean, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog, and Vietnamese.
