Seattle Public Schools offers youth ‘Skills Center Courses’ to build advanced, hands-on and practical skills

Do you want to learn advanced, hands-on, practical career skills? Do you want to earn industry certification, dual college credit, or participate in an internship or pre-apprenticeship program while still attending high school? Apply for the Seattle Skills Center School Year Program!

If you are a high school student in Seattle Public Schools, you can spend half a day in your home school and half a day in a Skills Center course, earning up to 3 Career and Technical Education (CTE) credits per year. Each Skills Center class requires 3 periods per day in a typical 6 period high school schedule (periods 1-3 for AM classes, and periods 4-6 for PM classes). You can attend any Skills Center class, regardless of your home school location.  Our students take classes that range from Maritime Vessel Operations to Dental Assisting and Teaching Academy.

See our webpage for full course descriptions and to complete the short required online application. If a student has a need for transportation to and from their Skills Center classes, this may be provided by Seattle Schools (usually a taxi, van, or school bus). See the map of Skills Center locations on reverse side of this form. Learn more about school year and summer courses by calling 206-252-0730 or by visiting: http://skillscenter.seattleschools.org
