Seattle’s Juneteenth Freedom Festival Returns for a Historic Celebration
This June 19, 2026, Seattle’s historic Central District is set to host the city's largest annual Juneteenth celebration. Held at Jimi Hendrix Park, the Juneteenth Freedom Festival returns this year for an event that carries unique significance, marking a rare convergence of Juneteenth, the international excitement of the FIFA World Cup, and the lead-up to America’s 250th anniversary.
Presented by the Africatown Community Land Trust and King County Equity Now, the festival offers a full day of community and culture from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Attendees can look forward to a robust lineup of programming, including:
Live Entertainment: Grammy-nominated artist Marsha Ambrosius of Floetry will headline the event.
Vibrant Marketplace: More than 75 Black-owned businesses and vendors will be on-site.
Community Engagement: A dedicated food village, youth and family activities, interactive community activations, and civic education exhibits will be open to all.
Beyond the music and festivities, the event highlights a decade of dedicated work by the Africatown Community Land Trust to preserve Black culture, prevent displacement, and build economic power within the Central District.
With thousands of community members and international visitors expected to gather, this year's festival promises to be a powerful moment to reflect on the day in 1865 when enslaved Black Americans learned they were free.
