Show Preview: Back2Besa Vault: Campfire Coffee, Holiday Jam, and the Stories Besa Loves
This week on Back2Besa, host Besa Gordon is closing out the year with something special — Besa’s Favorites, a curated episode highlighting some of the segments, moments, and stories that have meant the most to her along the journey.
This isn’t about looking at old content — it’s about revisiting moments that reflect what Back2Besa has always been about: community, culture, access, and showing up for the stories that matter.
The episode kicks off with a stop at Campfire Coffee, a business that holds deep personal meaning for Besa. Owned by longtime friend Quincey Henry and his wife Winnie, Campfire Coffee is known for roasting their beans over wood fire — a process you can truly taste. Viewers will get a look at the brand’s roots, its impact, and its continued growth, including their second location at Tacoma Public Utilities.
Next, the show heads to Cajun & Creole Fest in Kent, a celebration filled with food, music, and culture. Organized by Reginald Robinson of Altha’s Louisiana Cajun Store, the festival brings a taste of Louisiana to the Pacific Northwest. With Besa’s own family ties to Louisiana, this segment highlights why events like Cajun Fest are about more than a good time — they’re about preserving tradition and building community.
The episode also spotlights Rising Voices, the annual oratory showcase presented by Speak With Purpose. Held at South Shore K–8, the event empowers youth to speak their truth through “Passion Pieces” on topics that matter to them. It’s a powerful reminder of what happens when young voices are supported, encouraged, and given space to lead.
From there, viewers are transported to Wild Lanterns at Woodland Park Zoo, where art, light, and storytelling transform the zoo into a winter wonderland. This segment offers a behind-the-scenes look at one of Seattle’s most beloved seasonal experiences — and why it’s become a favorite for families across the region.
The episode also includes a backstage pass to The Nutcracker at McCaw Hall, where Besa takes viewers behind the curtain to see what goes into one of the most iconic ballets in the world. From dancers warming up to costumes, makeup, and the energy backstage, this segment captures the magic audiences don’t always get to see.
One of the standout moments of the episode is the Real Seattle Media Mixer, an event Besa created back in 2020 to bring people in media — especially creatives of color — together to connect, learn, and build community. Hosted at McCaw Hall, this mixer featured a powerful panel conversation around storytelling and social media, with insights from Jonathan Batista and Deaunte Damper. The segment highlights how the mixer continues to open doors and create access in spaces where representation hasn’t always existed.
Finally, the episode closes with an exclusive, unaired look at V101.1’s Holiday Jam — a concert that takes Besa back to her days in radio. From backstage moments to unforgettable performances, it’s a personal reflection on a chapter that helped shape her career.
Besa’s Favorites is more than a highlight reel — it’s a celebration of the people, places, and moments that define Back2Besa.
