With Scope Screenings 2025 weeks away, we look back at last season.

The final Scope Screenings event of 2024 brought big energy, bold films, and even bolder community vibes to SIFF Cinema Uptown—and it all played out on a special Back2Besa episode guest-hosted by LexScope himself.

Now three seasons in, Scope Screenings has built more than just a film festival. It’s built a movement. A space where filmmakers, musicians, visual artists, and culture-shifters come together not just to screen content—but to connect, collaborate, and grow.

A Space for Diverse Voices and Real Stories

This season was packed with unique work from Seattle-based creatives—from music videos to shorts, documentaries, commercials, and everything in between. The team at Drip Media, Mathew Bermudez and Bel Garcia, described Scope as a place where their culture was embraced, not explained. "It shares what we are and who we are," Bermudez said, highlighting the importance of telling diverse stories—including their coverage of the first Hispanic Heritage Night at a Seattle Kraken game.

More Than a Festival—It’s a Family

Onna Joshika summed it up perfectly: “It feels amazing coming here and meeting so much community.” From making new friends to finding creative collaborators, Scope has become a hub for artists to come together and be seen. She also praised LexScope’s leadership and the intentional way he uplifts Black voices in the arts scene.

Nick Olson, now Head of Media, reflected on how Lex mentored him early on. “I don’t know if I’d be here without Lex,” he said. Scope creates space for new talent to shine, and for seasoned creatives to give back.

Looking Ahead to 2025

Co-founder Shailee Stevens called this their biggest and most successful season yet. And they’re just getting started. Scope Screenings returns June 24, 2025 at SIFF Cinema Uptown—and if this finale was any sign, next season is about to be even more expansive, inclusive, and electric.

In the words of those who’ve lived it:

  • “Scope Screenings is community.”

  • “Scope Screenings is exponential.”

  • “Scope Screenings is life. Scope Screenings is love.”

And most of all, Scope Screenings is a movement.
