The Bridge for Black Portland: Tra’Renee’s Cultivation of Community, Joy, and Conversation

Northwest Media icon Tra’Renee has been holding down the media scene in Portland for nearly two decades. The Converge crew, including producer Juma Blaq and photographer Dean Bechard made the trip to the iHeartMedia studio in the Rose City to document Tra’Renee’s journey and keep Converge’s Portland love flowing.

Having served as an on-air personality for JAM’N 107.5 at iHeartMedia for the past 15 years, Tra’Renee is an ever-evolving lover of life and people, using her distinct voice as a platform for community support and joy. Her Emmy Award-winning work led her to establish Tra’Renee Media and create her own show, “Situations and Conversations with Tra’Renee,” which is currently in its fifth season.

Without a doubt, Tra’Renee is a bridge for Portland’s tight-knit Black community, helping transplants and newcomers navigate and integrate into the local scene. Tra’Renee’s story is just one of many stories Converge Media continues to uplift across the Pacific Northwest. This is why Black Media Matters.

Be on the lookout for the full story on Converge Media in the coming weeks.
