Washington State Department of Transportation Outlines Key Findings for State Rail Plan

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has identified several key findings and general strategies for the Washington State Rail Plan following analysis and community engagement. These findings are intended to guide the future development of passenger and freight rail movements across the state, emphasizing growth, safety, mobility, freight movement, and climate resiliency.

WSDOT has released a virtual webinar, available 24/7 online, to share research from the first phase of this planning process. The presentation provides details on how these initial findings will connect with upcoming rail projects in Washington.

To support inclusive access, the webinar is available on demand and includes closed captioning in seven languages: English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Arabic, and Russian.

Access and Community Involvement

The webinar and detailed findings are accessible through the official WSDOT Rail Plan website. For individuals without broadband service, the Washington State Department of Commerce provides a directory of free Drive-In WiFi Hotspots located throughout the state to facilitate access to these online resources.

Community members are also encouraged to subscribe to email updates for information regarding future engagement opportunities and the ongoing development of the State Rail Plan.
