What to Expect on This Week’s Episode of Back2Besa (03/07/26)

Another weekend means another episode of Back2Besa hosted by Besa Gordon, and this week we’re tapping into community, creativity, and the people who continue to show up and make a difference across the Pacific Northwest.

First up, we step inside the Black Media Matter Studio for a hands-on experience with Couture Cocktails. What started as a fun night learning how to craft designer cocktails quickly turned into a lesson in creativity and patience as we also took on the challenge of building our own charcuterie boards. Let’s just say… filling that “negative space” is a lot harder than it looks.

We’re also highlighting organizations doing real work for people who need it most. Dignity for Divas continues to support women transitioning out of homelessness with dignity, resources, and community, and we take a closer look at the food pantry inside their Dream Academy. It’s a powerful reminder of what happens when grassroots organizations and community partnerships come together with intention.

From there, we tap into the creative energy at Love & Frequency, a Valentine’s weekend experience that brought together music, visual art, spoken word, and community connection. The night was all about intention, expression, and creating space for people to feel something real.

This week’s episode also takes us down to Olympia for Advocacy Day, where youth from the Seattle area stepped into the halls of the Capitol to learn about civic engagement and how their voices can help shape the future of their communities.

Back here in Seattle, community collaboration made a big impact as Resole 206 partnered with Bait Seattle and Dub C Coffee to donate more than 100 pairs of sneakers to families through Southwest Youth & Family Services. It’s a reminder that sometimes the smallest gestures—like a fresh pair of shoes—can help a young person walk into their day with confidence.

And finally, we head down to Tigard, Oregon for the 2nd Annual Black History Month Market & Celebration organized by Juma Blaq. The event brought together vendors, artists, farmers, and families to celebrate culture, entrepreneurship, and the power of community in a region where representation doesn’t always get the spotlight.

As always, Back2Besa continues to highlight the people, spaces, and stories shaping the Pacific Northwest.
