What to Expect on This Week’s Episode of Back2Besa (2/28/2026)
This week on Back2Besa, we’re tapping into stories that remind us just how powerful it is to show up — for our youth, for our community, and for the people who continue to pour into others in meaningful ways.
We’re starting the show with an important conversation around youth mental health. I sat down with the Department of Early Education and Learning to talk about what real support looks like inside our schools and why creating spaces where young people feel heard can make all the difference.
From there, we step into the art world with Jonarra Swanson, founder of MUVA, as we take you inside her powerful exhibition Paintbrush Legacy. This one is deeply personal, and it’s all about storytelling, healing, and honoring the journey through art.
We’re also rewinding to some major community moments. That includes a look back at Ladies’ First Vibe Bingo, a night filled with Black joy that helped set the tone for the HBCU Seattle Series, as well as a rewind to the HBCU Swingman Classic — a historic moment during MLB All-Star Week that helped spark what we’re seeing grow right here in Seattle.
Of course, we’re switching gears too. I finally pulled up to Pizza by Ruffin in South Lake Union to see what all the hype was about, and yeah… it lived up to it. And if you’ve ever seen ropes swinging at a Seattle event, you already know the energy — we’re also spending time with the Double Dutch Divas, a group that turns movement into community wherever they go.
We’ll wrap things up with an affirmation inspired by resilience, reminding us that even when things don’t start the way we expect, we can still find comfort, strength, and the courage to keep moving forward.
It’s a full show — rooted in care, creativity, and connection — and I can’t wait for you to see it.
📺 Back2Besa airs Saturday at 10:30 PM on FOX 13 and replays Sunday at 10 AM and 8 PM on FOX 13+. You can also stream anytime on the FOX Local app.
