Homers and great pitching give Mariners series and homestand opening win against Nationals
To begin their six game homestand, the Seattle Mariners defeated the Washington Nationals 4-2 on August 23rd, 2022. The Mariners used some long balls from Mitch Haniger and Eugenio Suarez, as well as quality pitching from Robbie Ray and the bullpen which has recently been nicknamed “Los Bomberos”

In game two of their first round matchup against the Washington Mystics, the Seattle Storm pulled away from a tight score at halftime.

In game one of their first round matchup, the Seattle Storm came back to defeat the Washington Mystics 86-83. Shooting guard Jewell Loyd overcame her slow start to score 12 of the last 14 points for the Storm. Seattle is now one game away from winning the series.

The Seattle Mariners, with a 4-3 win over the New York Yankees on August 10th, would win their first season series against the Bronx Bombers since 2002. The big win was highlighted by a solid outing pitching wise by Robbie Ray, a Sam Haggerty solo homer to break up a no hitter, and a go ahead homer by Carlos Santana to give the Mariners a lead they would never look back from.
