The Soul Pole has stood tall outside The Seattle Public Library’s Douglass-Truth Branch for almost 50 years. Now, the 21-foot tall artwork – which the Black Heritage Society of Washington State has called a “beacon of Black pride” in the Central District – is starring in a short documentary produced by Seattle’s Converge Media.

Trae Holiday spoke with Jennifer Kilmer, the director of the Washington State History Museum, and Gwen Whiting, the lead curator of the history museum. Recently, the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma opened its Green Book exhibit, and Whiting and Kilmer were here to explain the details behind the exhibit's conception.

Senator Nobles reflected on her life experiences, saying they create a unique sense of duty which she brings to the office with her. Her experiences being homeless and growing up in the foster care system are what allowed her to bring the intricacies of these issues to the legislature. Senator Nobles also made sure to express that her background in politics and love of government and community is what allows her to bring purpose to Washington State.

Tash Haynes, a content creator, and photographer met Trae Holiday at the Green Book exhibit at the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma. Haynes creates beautiful portraits and displays her amazing work on her Instagram. Haynes has been at hard work for nearly a decade. Her sense of persistence, though, started long before.
