Choose180 raises staff min wage to $70,000 a year and raises expectations for funders and non-profit organizations
CHOOSE 180 announced wage increases and a minimum salary of $70,000 for all staff members effective immediately. A nonprofit organization in King County, WA, CHOOSE 180 transforms systems of injustice and supporting youth in communities in lieu of engagement with the criminal legal system. To create healthy, thriving communities, the organization advocates for improving material conditions.

A few months ago the City of Spokane made some local history when they named their first public school after a Black woman. This was no ordinary Black woman, Frances L. Scott was a trailblazing educator, activist, lawyer, and force in Spokane for decades.
Gone too soon: Adè Hogue made an impact and a “Commitment” here in Seattle.
They say it takes a village to raise a child, but in so many things, a village is what it takes. In the case of Alaska Airlines’ “Commitment” airplane, part of the village that created it, was Adè Hogue. Immediately visible on this beautiful plane, are images of Black youth, juxtaposed with a bold and iconic font, with quotes from iconic leaders, Martin Luther King Jr., and Nelson Mandela. Hogue was the brainchild behind the look of this font, which can be seen up close, but still reads boldly from a distance… and rightfully so.

The King County Fire Chiefs Association looks forward to hosting its first semi-annual Diversity and Recruitment Workshop on Dec. 11, 2021 in Bellevue.
