Baseball, Civil Rights and Reconciliation: Day 3 (Selma & Montgomery, Alabama)

Day 3 of the Baseball Beyond Borders trip through the South took us out of Jackson, Mississippi and moved East to Alabama. After a quick stop in downtown Jackson, we hit the road. A stop in Selma took brought us to the Edmund Pettus Bridge, the site of Bloody Sunday as well as other famous marches. We then travelled to Montgomery, where the team watched a Montgomery Biscuits game (the AA affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays).

Baseball, Civil Rights and Reconciliation: Day 2 (Jackson, Mississippi)

Today brought the second and final day of the camp, which featured a 60-yard dash and a whiffle ball game in the outfield. Campers and players built on relationships formed on day one, bonding over the shared experience of baseball.

“It’s really amazing to see,” Mariners Legend Dan Wilson said. “You can see how much fun everyone is having.”

Baseball, Civil Rights and Reconciliation: Day 1 (Jackson, Mississippi)

Seattle’s own Baseball Beyond Borders kicked off a four-day trip through the South, beginning with a youth baseball clinic in Jackson, Mississippi. Hosted at Jackson State University in association with the John and Vera Mae Perkins Foundation, the clinic brought kids aged 9-18 to learn from the Baseball Beyond Borders Senior Division All-Star Team.

Hadestown is an eight-time Tony Award-winning musical and is now taking its talent on tour. Hadestown is a musical with a complex story and spectacular vocals, especially from Marable (Persephone) and Morrow (Hades).

Morgan Siobhan Green and Nicholas Barasch play Eurydice and Orpheus in Hadestown, but their on-stage chemistry is a product of a deeper bond.

“We definitely embody our characters a lot,” Barasch said. Both he and Green say their off-stage presence mimics what viewers see during the show, adding an air of authenticity to this stunning production.

Hadestown: Anais Mitchell - Writer

Trae Holiday and Besa Gordon got the opportunity to interview Anais Mitchell, the writer of the eight-time Tony award-winning musical Hadestown, at its Los Angeles red carpet premiere.

Hadestown is widely considered as musical theater royalty. The show first started in 2006, but it didn’t debut on Broadway until 2019, almost 13 years after its conception. Now, in 2022 Hadestown has finally made its way to a national tour.
