Founded to teach and honor the great legacy of jazz music, their goal continues of making sure kids experience the life-changing magic of teamwork, creativity, and confidence that comes from dedicated education in the undoubtedly quintessential Black American art form.

Portland’s Hip Hop Week returns to the Rose City August 20 - August 27
Portland Hip Hop Week is an annual celebration of art and culture in Northern Oregon. The festivities bring together artists of all types, from DJ’s to rappers to break dancers and everything in between. Founded in 2015 by legendary Portland DJ O.G.ONE who is a DJ for the Portland Trailblazers as well as Vice President of the PNW Recording Academy and the late northwest music industry icon StarChile, the events focus on community engagement and are community-organized.
MADARAKA FESTIVAL 2022
One Vibe is proud to unveil the eighth annual Madaraka Festival on Saturday, August 13th and Sunday August 14th. Tre Simmons and Emergency Feeding Program will be hosting a Back To School backpack and supply giveaway on August 20th at Garfield High School. They’ll welcome students from throughout the community to come get the gear they need to be successful in school this year.
KD Hall Recognized by Seattle Storm for Empowering Women and Girls
The Seattle Storm recognized KD Hall during a halftime ceremony on July 24 as part of their Believe in Women Night presented by Symetra. Hall was joined by Ljeoma Oluo and Joycelyn Thomas. The event is part of Force4Change, the franchise’s social justice platform.

Baseball Beyond Borders Kings represent Seattle in RBI West Region Senior Baseball Tournament
The Baseball Beyond Borders 18u Senior Division All-Star Team travelled to Compton to represent Seattle in the Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) West Region Senior Baseball Tournament. The team put up a strong showing, including an 11-6 victory over Colorado Rockies RBI on Saturday morning. Despite being eliminated after the first two days, it was a great experience and a fun trip.
