For the sixth consecutive month, John Houston addressed the Renton School District during its monthly board meeting to make his case for reparations from the district.

Houston claims the district forced his parents to sell their 10-acre farm and home in 1968 under the threat of eminent domain.

In the 93rd MLB All-Star game of all-time, the National League team was able to secure victory over the American League for the first time in their last nine attempts, behind Elias Diaz’s homer in the eighth inning.

The 2023 Home Run Derby sadly didn’t feature the Seattle storybook ending of Julio Rodriguez winning the crown in his own ballpark, making history along the way before falling to Toronto’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr in the semifinal round. Like every year, the derby was a great opportunity to see some of the young and bright stars of the game showcase their power, with a few surprises mixed into this years event.

The Shohei Ohtani sweepstakes are going to be a slippery slope no matter how you approach it, whether you’re trying to trade for him ahead of this years deadline (August 1st) or putting together a mammoth contract for him to sign this offseason. Either way, given the holes he can fill and the star power he would add to the Mariners, Seattle’s baseball franchise must put their best effort together in order to land the Japanese superstar.

The Railspur Public Art Alley in Pioneer Square is the place to go to see some of Seattle’s hottest up and coming visual artists display their baseball-themed work during All-Star Week. We stopped by to check in with Shakore Nelson to hear about what makes the alley so special.

It was a historic day in the Emerald City as the first-ever Swingman Classic took over T-Mobile park on Friday and brought Seattle’s Black community to the stadium for a celebration of Black joy, baseball, and HBCUs. The game brought 50 of the best HBCU baseball players from around the country to Seattle to showcase their talents, while an HBCU college fair took place in the concourse.

With their three selections within the first round of the MLB Draft on All-Star Sunday taking place at Lumen Field, the Seattle Mariners opted to go with “risky” selections of high schoolers that have boat loads of upside if developed properly. Seattle is banking on being able to do that, hoping that this draft is a big step for their future.

In their third battle this season with the New York Liberty, the Seattle Storm once again fought hard all game long in a valiant attempt to upset one of the top teams in the WNBA, but ultimately could not get the closing moments late to go in their favor, partially in part to the fact that Jewell Loyd missed most of the quarter with a left ankle sprain.

In the Celebrity Softball game during MLB All-Star Saturday, it was the stars that hailed from Seattle who shone the brightest. During the second event of the day at T-Mobile Park, there was plenty of offense to witness, with some bad defense and fun moments mixed in.

In the 2023 MLB Futures game, Seattle Mariners prospects Harry Ford and Jonatan Clase had relatively quiet games at the plate while showing of some defensive tools in the limited action that they were able to see in the ballpark that they one day hope to call home.

A historic night at T-Mobile Park kicked off MLB All-Star Week 2023, as the first ever HBCU Swingman Classic saw the American League defeat the National League, an HBCU college fair, a drum line, dance routine, and so much more. A night that the 15,000+ strong crowd will remember forever has set the foundation for an event that will now take place annually wherever the MLB’s Midsummer Classic goes.

To begin a long road trip, that includes the WNBA All-Star Break in the middle of the month, the Seattle Storm were burned away by the Connecticut Sun in a frustrating blowout loss.
