Deja’Nay Gilliam joined Besa Gordon to Discuss the upcoming Big Day of Play
On Friday, Deja’Nay Gilliam from the Seattle Parks and Recreation stopped by the Black Media Matters Studio to discuss the upcoming Big Day of Play on August 19th from 12 - 6 pm. The in-person activities will be held at Rainier Playfields and Mount Baker Rowing and Sailing Center and will feature fun for community members of all ages.

Converge Hosts Youth From Rainier Avenue Radio’s CADMA Program
On Wednesday, students from Rainier Avenue Radio’s Creative Arts Digital Media Academy visited our #BlackMediaMatters Studio. While there, they met with Back2Besa host Besa Gordon to hear about the importance of Black media as well as learn what it takes to be a media professional. Call For Artists: Garfield Super Block is Looking for Talented Applicants for New Projects
The Garfield Super Block is located in Seattle's Central District and is shared by Medgar Evers Pool, play fields, Teen Life Center, and a community center, all owned and operated by Seattle Parks & Recreation and Garfield High School. The site boundaries are Cherry Street to the north, 23rd Avenue to the west, 25th Avenue to the east, and Alder Street to the south. The area is mainly residential in character along 25th and Alder, with mixed commercial uses at Cherry and 23rd Avenue.
