An iconic Seattle business closed its doors for the final time on Saturday. Founded in 1946, Mutual Fish Co. located in the Rainier Valley has been a staple for generations for not only those who live in the Central District and South end of Seattle but also a mainstay for restaurants across the city and acclaimed chefs.

Our Pop Culture Queen and the host of Back2Besa on FOX 13 Seattle Besa Gordon was out and about this weekend at the City of Seattle’s Pickleball For All tournament. She learned the sport and took in the vibes as they city opened brand new pickle ball courts as part of their plan to reactivate Downtown Seattle.

The Seattle Seahawks brought surprise and delight to the community last week when they visited the CD Panthers for their game at Judkins Park against B12. Seahawks Community Engagement Manager Kyle Dougherty was on hand as the organization brought swag, dancers, their mascot Blitz and current players Tre Brown and Dareke Young.

The Seattle Mariners were swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers, as the Mariners failed to do much of anything on the offensive end, while starting pitcher Logan Gilbert got hammered by the Dodgers "hangover" lineup.

On Thursday, our Pop Culture Queen and the host of Back2Besa on FOX 13 Seattle was at Lumen Field ahead of the Beyonce concert to meet fans and giveaway seat upgrades. She also took in the sights and found some her favorite outfits.

This week on #Back2Besa’s Youth Unfiltered, Besa Gordon brought the Seattle Rotary Lady Style Basketball team to the final Seattle Storm game of the season. While there, they witnessed Jewell Loyd make history by setting the WNBA single season record for points scored with 939. It was an inspirational and motivational day for the girls, who are some of the most talented youth basketball players in the Emerald City.

The Seattle Mariners nearly did everything right in order to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers, getting a great effort from the pitching staff and generating some traffic on the bases, but they failed at pushing those runs across home plate and ultimately saw the Los Angeles Dodgers celebrate a 10th NL West title across the past 11 seasons.

The Seattle Black Business Network brought the business community together over seafood on September 1st at Poco Bar and Lounge, and our Back2Besa crew was there to check in with attendees and hear about the event.

Hundreds of protestors marched in South Lake Union to demand accountability for the Seattle police officer who fatally struck Jaahnavi Kandula with his car in January and the vice president of the Seattle police officers guild who was heard on tape mocking the death just hours later.

They held a session to teach participants and citizens of Seattle about the Participatory Budgeting process, which involves the plan for dispersing $27.25 million across the Black and Brown community.

The Columbia City Beatwalk, known as ‘South Seattle’s Music Festival’, brought folks together to celebrate music, vendors, and the historic community event which has been running for 29 years. The monthly event which runs June-September and is organized by the Columbia City Business Association showcases some of the best the neighborhood has to offer.

The 10th annual Jackson Street Jazz walk took over 8 different venues along South Jackson street for a weekend of music and vibes celebrating both the history and innovation of Jazz music in Seattle. Featuring twenty two different bands and performers, the festival brought the Jazz community together to showcase the richness of the culture that exists in the Emerald City.
