J. Rycheal Lester-Peters, the interim marketing director for LANGSTON, is currently leading efforts to amplify the cultural institution's role within Seattle's Central District. On a recent episode of The Day With Trae with host Trae Holiday, Lester-Peters discussed the upcoming Seattle Black Nerd Festival, happening August 28th through 30th. 

The Seattle Black Nerd Festival is designed to create an intentional portal for Black joy, creativity, and connection, featuring a stacked lineup ranging from musical performances and film screenings with filmmaker Boots Riley to panels on Afrofuturism, sound healing, and spirituality. By celebrating the limitless ways one can be a "nerd," the festival serves as a judgment-free environment dedicated to expanding the scope of the Black imagination and community engagement.
