Prolific writer and poet Rajnii Eddins recently joined host Trae Holiday on The Day With Trae in the Black Media Matters studio to discuss the power of Black creativity and narrative ownership.

During the conversation, Eddins reflected on the 35-year history of the African-American Writers Alliance (AAWA) and its mission to provide an empowering, self-validated space for Black storytellers to counter systemic exclusion. In a climate where efforts to suppress underrepresented narratives are increasing, Eddins and Holiday discussed the importance of preserving these creative spaces. Eddins emphasized that unity, literacy, and active engagement with legacy-based organizations are essential for persevering through challenges.

Eddins highlighted the upcoming n-Word Conference, scheduled for October 16th through the 18th at Mount Zion to celebrate the AAWA's 35th anniversary. The event is designed as a space for the Black, Indigenous, and global majority to connect and reflect on their collective brilliance.
