The Day With Trae | September 11th, 2026 - Alex Minami

Alex Minami, Co-Director of Programs and Partnerships at the Seattle Opera, recently joined The Day With Trae with guest host Alicia Crank to discuss how the organization is utilizing community partnerships to serve and celebrate underrepresented groups.

Minami explained that his work centers on co-creating meaningful programming alongside local advocates. Past collaborative initiatives include an Afghan Culture Showcase with the Refugee Artisan Initiative, an annual Black Artist Market celebrating Malcolm X's legacy, and a dedicated Furry Night at the Opera.

Looking ahead to the mainstage season, the Seattle Opera is planning several culturally aligned community events around its upcoming productions, including film screenings, self-portrait workshops, and cultural heritage nights.

Minami also highlighted the free, family-friendly Seattle Opera Center Open House on September 26th as an accessible entry point for the public to connect with the opera's work and facilities.
