Bloom Runway Dynasty Celebrates Black Creativity and Divine Purpose
On Back2Besa’s special Portland edition last weekend, Besa Gordon looked back at when the Bloom Runway Dynasty made a return to The Melody Event Center in Portland’s Central Eastside last year, celebrating fashion, Black creativity, and divine purpose. Founded by Abibat Durosimi, Bloom began as a collective and has successfully grown into a full creative agency rooted in ancestral brilliance and forward vision.
Bloom’s mission, as shared by Abibat, centers on understanding one's divine blueprint and building legacy from God-given gifts. This inspiring vision was supported by key partnerships with institutions like the Portland Fashion Institute and the 1803 Fund, represented by D’Artagnan Calluman.
The runway featured impactful highlights, including designer Jocelyn Rice, who earned massive acclaim with politically charged fashion pieces that embodied resistance and pride. Rice’s collection included a hand-stamped Harriet Tubman flag, showing the political and cultural weight of the show.
