Empowering the Future: Inside the Solutions for Seattle Youth Day at T-Mobile Park

Solutions for Seattle Youth Empowerment Day at T-Mobile Park proved to be far more than just a typical baseball game, standing instead as an homage to community unity and support for the city’s next generation. On Wednesday, June 17th, hundreds of young people, families, educators, and mentors gathered together, transforming the stadium into a space of celebration and shared purpose.

Spearheaded by Solutions for Seattle founder Melvin Slaughter, the day’s festivities were rooted in the organization’s commitment to empowering the city's youth, and building a stronger, safer, and more connected community. Beginning with a major pregame block party at Garfield High School before the group proceeded to T-Mobile Park, the atmosphere was one of connection and hope, as attendees united to create lasting memories and showcase the strength of a city standing behind its young people.

The gathering also carried a commitment to the future, with a portion of ticket proceeds dedicated to expanding the Lyrics Matter School, a trauma-informed program that uses hip-hop and music as tools for expression and violence prevention.

“Seattle, thank you for showing what community truly looks like,” Slaughter said.
