Between new friendships and old ones, Besa Gordon loves them all. That’s why she took the opportunity last week on Back2Besa to reflect on her trip to Portland, Oregon with Abby Plaatjes, a radio host from South Africa's 92.5 Mjini FM when she flew into Seattle in 2023.  

During Plaatjes’ stay, the two radio personalities embarked on a trip to Portland, Oregon on the scenic Amtrak Cascades train. Their time in the Rose City was packed with cultural and community connections, from a visit to Providence Park with Dr. Robin Beavers of Community and Impact, a stop at the Moda Center to see DJ OG ONE, the official DJ for the Portland Trail Blazers, and a delicious meal at Trap Kitchen PDX. The adventure continued in Seattle, where Gordon took Plaatjes to her very first hockey game at Climate Pledge Arena to cheer on the Seattle Kraken. 

Reflecting on the journey, Gordon noted that the trip was about much more than just the places they visited. It was about sharing experiences and fully immersing Plaatjes in the energy, excitement, and natural beauty of the region, proving that moving around is key to experiencing and falling in love with the Pacific Northwest.
