A Trip To Vashon: Besa Gordon Talks King County Metro on Good Day Seattle

Besa Gordon joined Good Day Seattle this morning to showcase her recent trip to Vashon Island, made possible by King County Metro water taxi’s additional schedule running on Saturdays. On the island, Gravy Executive Chef and owner Chef Dre picked her up and gave her a tour of his favorite spots, including Vashon Island Baking Company and his own Southern restaurant, Gravy.

Gordon connected her day trip to Chef Trey Lamont’s new series Food With Melanin, shedding light on Black-owned restaurants across the region.

“One of the segments that [Chef Trey] is doing is on Gravy,” she said. “So I found out that the water taxi now runs on Saturdays, and so I decided to pull up and check it out for myself.”

Gordon’s day across the bay was a reminder to slow down and appreciate good people, good food, and good energy in the Pacific Northwest.

“I came back feeling refreshed, full, and reminded that you don't always have to go far, because sometimes the best adventures start right across the water,” she said.

The full story on Gordon’s trip to Vashon will be featured on her special birthday episode of Back2Besa this weekend. The episode will also include a behind-the-scenes view of Back2Besa, thanks to photographer Jordan Somers, producer Paul Sanders, and makeup artist Teme Wokoma, as well as some of Gordon’s favorite things like wrestling and Black joy. To celebrate her birthday episode, Gordon brought cupcakes to share in the FOX 13 studio.
