Aisha Ellis Asim’s Reign of Style Hair Show To Celebrate 12 Years of Community and Creativity
For 12 years, the Reign of Style Hair Show & Competition has served as a primary platform for showcasing the brilliance of the Northwest beauty industry. Reign of Style producer Aisha Ellis Asim, a seasoned stylist and business owner, recently sat down with host Trae Holiday on “The Day With Trae” to discuss details for Reign of Style 2026.
Event Details and Highlights
The 12th annual Reign of Style is scheduled for March 1st at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall. Will Holiday set to host the event, Ellis Asim promised an energetic and immersive experience for both industry professionals and the public. Key features of the event include:
Live "Watch Me Work" Competitions: This segment allows the audience to witness stylists' creativity under pressure as they complete styles from start to finish within a set time limit.
Student Showcases: Students from local beauty schools will take the stage to demonstrate new techniques and artistic perspectives, representing the future of the industry.
Educational Opportunities: The show will feature classes such as micro maintenance, taught by local expert SRB Millie, highlighting the importance of continuous learning and sharing techniques within the community.
Main Stage Performances: The event concludes with themed runway shows featuring multiple models, curated music, and high-energy displays of hair artistry.
A Focus on Community Support
Ellis Asim maintained that the show's longevity is rooted in the support of local stylists and vendors. Every year, she actively recruits new talent by visiting salons from Everett to Tacoma, Washington, encouraging stylists to showcase their work without intimidation. She views Reign of Style as an exchange of energy, stating that the goal is to promote, inspire, and support one another within the industry.
"It's not always about competition in that way. It's learning from each other,” Ellis Asim said.
The exhibition hall will host a variety of local vendors. Attendees can expect to find hair products, clothing, and accessories from businesses such as Platinum Plush, QueenCare, and Zara Jo Beauty Supply.
Industry Impact and Tickets
While major fashion hubs like New York or Atlanta often dominate the conversation, Ellis Asim said, Reign of Style aims to spotlight the talent thriving in Washington. "We need these kinds of opportunities in our community to spotlight the brilliance that we have here," Holiday said.
