Almost The Weekend: City Beats with Tra’Renee - Wellness, Giving Back & Love in Portland this weekend
This week on City Beats with Tra’Renee, it was all about wellness, community, and love. From getting healthy to giving back, Tra’Renee highlighted a lineup of events that bring people together in the Portland and Vancouver area.
She kicked things off with the WellPoint Community Health Fair, also known as Wellness Palooza, happening at Living Hope Church in Vancouver. This free event makes it easy to prioritize health with breast and cervical screenings, blood pressure checks, vaccines, doula resources, and even culturally congruent produce — because as Tra’Renee reminded viewers, “you gotta eat well to be well!”
Next up, Tra’Renee showed love to Elate Youth Mentoring and Wealthy, who joined forces for a Care Package Winter Drive. They’re collecting new or gently used hats, gloves, coats, scarves, socks, and blankets to help keep people warm this season. Donations can be dropped off Saturday and Sunday at The Factory in Portland.
And for those ready to close out the weekend with some inspiration, the Returning Black to Love stage play and panel discussion is taking over Portland Center Stage. The event features an all-star panel including David Jefferson of Stackin Kicks, mentor Keela Jones, community leader Marty Brown, and clinical social worker Jasmine Smith, moderated by Lucky Onadrury of Word Is Bond. Guests can expect good food, wine, raffles, and an open conversation about love, healing, and growth.
Catch Tra’Renee weekdays on JAM’N 107.5 in the Middays, and watch her show Situations & Conversations every Sunday on Portland’s CW. Stay connected with her on social media @TheRealTraRenee for more updates on what’s happening around the city.
